Father Aloysius Bellécius, S.J.
Aloysius Bellecius (1704–1757), born in Freiburg im Breisgau, entered the Society of Jesus in 1719. He trained missionaries, spent four years in the Jesuit mission on the Marañón in Peru, directed the Jesuit seminary at Porrentruy, taught theology at Freiburg, and was a parish priest in Augsburg when he died. Solid Virtue is the English translation of his Virtutis solidae praecipua impedimenta, subsidia et incitamenta, first published in 1755.
