Novenas

The Raccolta of 1878 prints a nine-day novena before the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Each day begins with the Veni Sancte Spiritus and a prayer to Our Lady. Then come nine Hail Marys, the prayer for the day, and the hymn All fair art thou, O Mary. The novena runs November 29 to December 7. The feast is December 8, a holy day of obligation.

St. Jude is the patron of hopeless cases. This novena comes from a booklet printed for the Shrine of Saint Jude in New Bedford, Massachusetts. It carries an imprimatur dated July 13, 1939. Each day begins with the same prayers to St. Jude and ends with a prayer for that day. The traditional novena runs October 19 to 27. The feast is October 28.
