A peaceful Catholic home is built on ordinary acts of patience, purity, joy, and sacrifice, repeated day after day. In The Sacred Heart and the Catholic Home, Fr. Edward F. Garesché, S.J., shows how devotion to the Heart of Jesus can shape those acts and give them a deeper purpose.

First published in 1927, these twenty-six short chapters were written for households facing selfishness, worldliness, sorrow, and indifference. Most first appeared in the Messenger of the Sacred Heart. They include reflections on the Sacred Heart as the source of peace and joy in the home, chapters addressed to young people and to men, encouragement for families weighed down by suffering, and the author’s introduction to using the readings for a Holy Hour.

This Manualist Press edition was newly typeset from the 1927 Bruce Publishing Company edition and retains the original Sacred Heart frontispiece.

Why this book

Garesché returns to one practical question—what love for Christ looks like in the way we treat the people under our own roof. Each chapter can be read in a few minutes.
