How we prepare an edition
How Manualist Press, a small Catholic publisher, turns one identified printed edition into a new book. This is what happens between that book and ours.
Transcribe the text
We transcribe the text from that edition and keep its structure: parts, chapters, headings, and notes.
Proof against the source
We read the transcription against the page images and correct the errors the transcription introduced.
Set, check, and publish
We set the type for print and Kindle, check the files, and then publish.
What a book page shows
The edition we worked from, when and by whom it was printed, why we chose the book, any note on how the text was restored, and the formats with their identifiers.
Historical approvals
Some source editions carry an imprimatur or another approval. We show it with the edition it belongs to. It is not an approval of our edition.
