The Bedford Master, Pentecost, book of hours, about 1420. Cleveland Museum of Art.
PATER NOSTER, qui es in cœlis, sanctificetur nomen tuum; adveniat regnum tuum; fiat voluntas tua, sicut in cœlo, et in terra. OUR FATHER, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie; et dimitte nobis debita nostra, sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Et ne nos inducas in tentationem; sed libera nos a malo. Amen. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen.
